What to Expect
Your Journey with Summit
Every participant's journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation designed to understand your individual needs and determine whether Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is clinically appropriate. This process helps us develop a personalized treatment plan while ensuring safe, evidence-based care throughout your treatment experience.
Below is an overview of what that journey typically looks like, from your initial intake through the start of treatment and ongoing support.
- A structured evaluation process covering medical, behavioral health, and functional assessments.
- An individualized treatment plan based on your clinical presentation and goals.
- Ongoing behavioral health support integrated throughout your HBOT treatment.
The Evaluation & Treatment Journey
Eight Steps from Intake to Ongoing Care
Because every participant is unique, additional evaluations, testing, or consultations may be recommended based on your individual needs and clinical judgment. The steps below describe the typical journey.
Intake & Baseline Assessment
Establishing Your BaselineYou will provide demographic information, complete an HBOT Risk Assessment, and answer standardized questionnaires that establish baseline measures of cognitive function, emotional well-being, and quality of life.
Behavioral Health Evaluation
Understanding Your Needs & GoalsA licensed behavioral health provider meets with you to better understand your symptoms, goals, and factors that may influence treatment planning. Because treatment occurs in a multiplace hyperbaric chamber, this evaluation also helps promote a safe environment for all participants and staff.
Clinical Case Review
Coordinated Treatment PlanningSummit's clinical team reviews your assessment findings to support coordinated treatment planning. Final medical decisions remain the responsibility of Summit's Medical Director.
Medical Evaluation
Determining Medical AppropriatenessA physician completes a comprehensive medical history, physical examination, and clinical assessment to determine whether HBOT is medically appropriate for your individual situation.
Functional & Cognitive Assessment
Additional Clinical GuidanceWhen clinically appropriate, additional balance, cognitive, or functional assessments may be performed to further guide treatment planning and establish a detailed baseline for measuring your progress.
Individualized Treatment Planning
A Plan Built Around YouIf HBOT is appropriate, Summit develops a personalized treatment plan based on your clinical presentation, medical judgment, treatment goals, and the best available scientific evidence.
Treatment Begins
Oriented, Prepared, and SupportedBefore treatment begins, you'll receive Summit's HBOT Orientation Manual, which explains the treatment process, safety expectations, and what to expect throughout your HBOT experience. Our team encourages you to ask questions at any point during your care.
Ongoing Support Throughout Treatment
Continuous Monitoring & AdjustmentDuring treatment, you'll meet weekly with one of Summit's licensed behavioral health providers to monitor progress, address challenges, and support your overall treatment experience. Behavioral health services are integrated into the HBOT program and are intended to complement—not replace—your ongoing healthcare.
Throughout treatment, Summit's clinical team monitors your progress and adjusts your care as needed to support your safety and treatment goals.
Because every participant is unique, additional evaluations, testing, or consultations may be recommended based on your individual needs and clinical judgment. Summit's team is here to guide you through every stage of the process and answer any questions you have along the way.
